Protocol.
If you want to ensure optimal grain quality and maximum profitability, start by taking insects seriously — and then prepare with a proactive Grain Protection Protocol. A strong protocol built on effective grain protectants is the key to defending not just grain quality and volume, but your profitability for the entire year.
to cash out.
Conduct a complete bin cleanout before harvest. Vacuum or brush all remaining grain from bin structures, sub-floors, augers, walls, and cracks and crevices — inside and out. Then pre-treat all surfaces with a residual insecticide to eliminate existing pressure before grain fill begins.
This is your best opportunity to prevent future treatments and protect the value of your grain. Apply an insecticide during load-in — in the auger or on the belt — for full, even coverage across every bushel entering storage. Monitor grain moisture to ensure maximum efficacy.
Ensure the bushels you load in are the ones you pull out. Conduct regular probe or sample testing to preserve test weight and maintain marketing flexibility. Apply insecticides via subfloor ventilation and treat the headspace to keep the protocol working from all angles.
Inspect grain before load-out to confirm no pests have survived and no new infestations have occurred. If insects are detected, treat prior to delivery to reduce dockage. Grain that arrives clean and meeting spec is grain that earns maximum profit.
Every operation is different. Complete the short form below to receive a customized Grain Protection Protocol designed to help protect grain quality, reduce risk and maximize profitability.
